A Gem of a Fragrance

Spraying a fruitful homage to India’s lavish Rajasthan region, House of Boucheron’s new Jaïpur Bracelet fragrance blooms with the elegance and grace that encapsulate this gem of a location after which it’s named—Rajasthan’s capital, or, “the Pink City.”
Representing “the echo of desire,” the woody, floral scent layers violet, basil and lemon verbena over lily of the valley, with soft undertones of hyacinth, marigold and crepe jasmine—known as the carnation of India. As mysterious as the city that gave inspiration, the multifaceted fragrance offers the spicy, musky notes of cashmeran combined with the woody aromatic notes of cypress and a powdery finish of concrete iris.
An inspiration to House of Boucheron since the company’s beginnings, India’s northern region, described as “a far away land, synonymous with star-studded dreams and precious lucky charms,” has attracted jewelry makers from around the world seeking inspiration from the country’s magical atmosphere. Among them was Louis Boucheron, son of founder Frederic Boucheron, who first visited the land in 1909 and instantly fell in love with the beauty around him. There, he was warmly welcome by the maharajah (great king), who showed him the city’s rare, precious stones and secrets of local jewelry. He befriended Boucheron, and the young craftsman began designing exquisite jewelry from his unique collection of gems that continue to inspire modern-day creations, including the cabochon—a stone that is polished as opposed to faceted and remains one of House of Boucheron’s signature cuts.
The design also appears in the company’s perfume collection, capping the jewel-colored bottles with a colored stone. A true tribute to “the Pink City,” Jaïpur Bracelet’s talisman bottle is made of pale pink tinted glass and crowned with an amethyst cabochon.
“The [bottle’s design] is a tribute to Jaïpur’s palaces, sculpted like a hanging bracelet,” the company explains in its product description. The bottle, curved like a woman’s form, celebrates the softness of bare skin and is a precious object that immediately inspires the desire to pick it up and hold it within the palm of one’s hand.
